FSC Certification:

From Protected Forest to Your Warehouse

A proud moment at RENUBOX: we are officially FSC® certified. And that is more than just a name. It is a guarantee that the certified boxes have been brought to market in a responsible and sustainable way.

But those who know us, know that we look further than FSC. Because sometimes, there are better solutions. On this page, we take you into the forest, explain what the "FSC stamp" really means, and help you choose between responsible new and circular old.

What Happens in the Forest? (FSC Explained)

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council. It is an international organization that fights globally for conservation and responsible forest management. If you buy a box from us with an FSC sticker (these can be found on the pallet stickers), you can be certain that the cardboard does not come from illegal logging or destroyed ancient forests. The forest owner must adhere to very strict principles. An FSC forest is not a 'wood factory', but a living ecosystem.

This is strictly controlled in the forest:

  • No clear-cutting: Logging is done selectively. The forest must be able to recover itself. This way, the forest always remains a forest, even after the harvest.
  • Biodiversity: Rare animals, plants, and water sources enjoy protection. A tree where a rare bird nests is left standing. The natural habitat takes precedence over profit.
  • Human rights: This is often forgotten but is crucial. FSC guarantees that the rights of the local population and indigenous tribes are respected. There is no land grabbing, but rather cooperation.
  • Safe working conditions: The people who fell and process the trees do so under safe conditions, with proper equipment and for a fair wage.

Chain of Custody: The Closed Chain

The wood from such a responsible forest travels a long way before it lies in your warehouse as a box. From the forest to the sawmill, to the pulp mill, to the corrugated cardboard producer, and finally to RENUBOX.

To ensure that no "non-compliant" wood is mixed in along the way, every link in that chain must be certified. We call this the Chain of Custody.

Because RENUBOX is now certified, the chain is closed. With certified boxes, we can prove black-on-white where your box comes from. It doesn't get more transparent than that!

The RENUBOX Reality Check: FSC vs. Re-used

We are proud of our certificate. It allows us to offer companies that need new boxes the most responsible and sustainable choice. But there is an option that spares the forest even more. And that is our specialty: Re-used and Surplus boxes. The difference between them is actually simple:

FSC box:

A tree has been felled responsibly for it, and energy and water were used for production.

Re-used and Surplus boxes:

A new box is not needed; the factory stays off. There is 0.0 production impact.

Our philosophy: FSC is the best choice for new boxes. Re-used is the best choice for the planet (and your wallet).

Choose New & FSC-certified if:

Choose Re-used or Surplus if:

Please note: Our Re-used and Surplus boxes do not have an FSC sticker, simply because the chain is often broken during reuse. But in terms of impact, they always win.

Working Together on Less Impact

Whether you choose a perfectly fitting new box with the FSC label, or a box starting its second life: at RENUBOX you are in the right place. We are happy to advise you on the balance between custom fit, appearance, and pure sustainability.

Why pay more when you can go green?
